LED bulbs use a similar technology but are not engineered the same and performance may vary with different dimmers. In some instances, the user may encounter compatibility issues which affects the dimming performance, and the user may experience flickering, the light turning off when in the process of dimming or the dim bar traveling a distance before the lights start dimming.
Dimming performance can be improved by Setting Minimum and Maximum Dim Levels
- Minimum dim level sets the lowest setting before a bulb turn off - Use to address flicker or turning off at a low level
- Maximum dim level is typically used to improve dimming travel
- Some bulbs require the dim level to move a long distance before the dimming process starts
- The upper end of a dimming curve is often difficult to see changes in the dim level
- Setting the maximum dim just above the ‘perceived’ change in dimming level provides dimming across the entire slide
- Maximum dim level is not always available on other dimmers in the market
- Leviton minimum and maximum dim levels are 100% digital and do not need to be reset after a power cycle
Setting the Minimum Dim Level
- Turn the dimmer OFF and remove the color kit
- Move the slide bar to the bottom
- Confirm the Mode Selector Switch is in Mode A
- Press and hold the power button (otherwise referred to as the ON/OFF Actuator) Note: the light may not turn on
- Set Mode Selector Switch to Mode B
- Raise and lower the slide bar to achieve the desired minimum light level
- Set the Mode Selector Switch back to Mode A
- A momentary flash of the bulb may occur confirming the new setting
- Release the power button and press again to turn the light OFF
- Replace color change kit
Setting the Maximum Dim Level
- Turn the dimmer OFF and remove the color kit
- Move the slide bar to the top
- Confirm the Mode Selector Switch is in Mode A
- Press and hold the power button (otherwise referred to as the ON/OFF Actuator) Note: the light may not turn on
- Set Mode Selector Switch to Mode B
- Move the slide bar down to achieve the desired maximum dim level
- Set the Mode Selector Switch back to Mode A
- A momentary flash of the bulb may occur confirming the new setting
- Turn the light OFF
- Replace color change kit
